Bowling for the First Time

Last night was Emily's first bowling experience, and of course she amazed me yet again!  It looks to me like she is a quick learner and catches on quickly to stuff, but of course she is my first and I am biased.

Here is Emily with her bright yellow 6 pound bowling ball (which she did carry around by herself).
She used this ramp, she pushed the ball down the ramp which gave it some extra speed.
Watching her ball at the end of the lane.
Having fun with Will.
Mom, are you watching me?
Her first spare!  She did great!

First Dentist Visit

Yesterday afternoon Emily got her teeth cleaned for the first time!  She had been to the dentist one other time and saw both Jim and I get our teeth cleaned, but this time she was in the big black chair!

Doesn't she look so cute (and little) waiting for the dentist to come in?
The dentist checked (counted) all of her teeth and said they look great!
Here is the dentist cleaning her teeth with a Winnie the Pooh toothbrush (Emily was a little unsure of the electronic gadget that cleans the teeth, and they didn't want to scare her on her first visit).
Here is a video of the dentist checking and counting Emily's 20 teeth (10 on the bottom and 10 on the top).

I was very proud of my little girl, she was a little unsure, but listened to the dentist and did a great job.  Then she sat patiently as I got my teeth cleaned.

Coloring Fun

Tuesday morning a friend came over to show me how to do the whole cloth diapering thing, so I am really getting ready for baby #2!  My friend Jen was so gracious to lend us some diapers of hers as well.  So now we should be set on cloth diapers!

The kids were cute, they colored on the huge paper Jim got for us, they were all lined up at the counter - Audrey (1.5), Gabe (almost 8), Emily (almost 3), and Natalie (5.5).

It was cute, sometimes Emily played with Audrey, and sometimes with Natalie, and of course she wanted to play outside with Gabe too!

Great Grandma Weidmayer

Monday morning was interesting, we got ready for play group and ended to town.  We got there only for me to realize that because Chelsea Schools are on Spring Break this week, there was no Creative Play.  Darn, and Emily was looking forward to it!

So we went to the Dollar Store to get a few things for Easter, then we headed to Great Grandma's house for a last minute visit.

I told Emily on the way to Grandma's, maybe today we can take Grandma to the bakery.  I was a little excited about the idea myself, I wanted to see what my cousin had made for Easter and planned to buy a few treats for this weekend.  Well again, I wasn't thinking and the bakery is closed on Mondays!  UGH!  Emily was a little let down both times, but handled the disappointment well.

Here is a picture of Emily with Great Grandma.

Here is a picture of me (31 weeks pregnant) with Grandma, Emily had to take a picture too!
We had a great time chatting with Grandma and my mother surprised all of us and stopped by with some pretzels for Grandma.  Of course Grandma shared her pretzels with us, so we did end up having a nice treat too!

First Time Playing Wii Soccer

Tonight Jim decided that Emily wanted to play the Wii; honestly I think Jim just wanted to play it!

I was amazed that Emily could hit the ball with her head in the soccer Wii game on her first try!  It's amazing how quickly they pick things up!  I hope sports are in her future, she not 3 yet but sure has an interest at this stage!  (Make sure you watch the video at the end!)

I thought I would include this picture so you could see an after the hair cut picture.
I don't know what's cuter, Emily hitting the soccer ball with her head or her laughing when she does it!

Hair Cut

We were a little over due for a hair cut, check out how long Emily's bangs were!

Emily is really good at sitting still when she gets  her hair cut, Rob says she is his best kid!   I go back and forth, thinking I may grow out her bangs, but then I decided with Easter coming up, I would cut them at least one more time.  And it's amazing how much better you can see her eyes now!

Fun with Heiss Cousins

This week Emily got to play with her Heiss cousins Tristan (11) & Zach (12) while Jim helped his sister Sue fix her truck.

We started by going for a walk and went farther than we have ever gone, the only bad thing is Emily got so tired I had to carry her part of the way home.  We won't go that far again without the stroller!  We walked about a mile total.

Emily enjoyed playing on the swing set with Tristan and Zach too!  They push a little higher than I do and taught Emily lots of new tricks.

Wow was Emily going high!

Zach says to Emily "Let me show you how to spin around."  You know when the swing wraps around and then unwinds itself.
After our walk, Zach, Tristan & Lucy.  Even Lucy was worn out!

I thought we would have worn Emily out, but she still didn't want to go to bed Wednesday night!  For some reason she just doesn't not like going to bed and only napped once or twice this week!  I was hoping she would nap until Kindergarden, darn!

Sunday Dresses

Every Sunday we get dressed up for church, Emily wears her Sunday best, which of course is a dress.  I need to start taking pictures because really this is pretty much the only time she wears these beautiful outfits and looks so adorable.  Here is the Sunday dress Emily wore today which is from Grandma Jane.

Belated Birthday Dinner at the Blue Tractor

We went to the Blue Tractor yesterday for a belated Birthday dinner for Jim.  Emily was sick on the original date we planned for the Blue Tractor which was last Saturday the 13th.  We with some friends - Kelly, Tim, Luke(4.5), & Jada (almost 2) and my parents.

Here is a picture of Dad & Jim.

Jim's Birthday was March 11th, we had lots of fun at that time, Emily and I made him a special dinner of Beef Burgendy with of course a Birthday Cake (Cherry chip Emily picked out at the store) and Ice Cream!

We really wanted to surprise daddy at work and take him to lunch on his Birthday but Emily woke up with a fever and cold that day, darn!  So the Birthday balloon we got to take to his work stayed home with us, and Emily enjoyed playing with it.  Right when Emily woke up we gave daddy his new Life is Good shirt (Gotta Fly) and Jim was off to work.  Emily did a good job keeping the secret about the shirt and not telling daddy for 6 days!  Jim also got a tent for his Birthday which I am excited about because it's much bigger than the 2 person tents he owns and we go on an annual camping trip with our Bible Study group.  Jim did tell me that Emily slips about the Birthday lunch and told him the night before that we are coming to your work tomorrow to go to lunch.  I figured that might happen when you tell a 2 year old a secret.  I was still impressed that she didn't tell him about the cake or shirt!

Daddy Day

Yesterday Jim and Emily spent the day together.  They took a "trip" to Midland and saw his mom and step-dad Alan plus got some stuff done for his dad's estate.

I had mixed feelings about them going without me, I knew I will miss Emily a lot, and I wanted to see his mom and Alan too.  But I had some things here I needed to get done too.  They left right after Emily got up at like 8:30am and then got back a little before 5pm.

Here is Emily in the BIG red truck using her colorworks markers and kit from Jane.

Emily and Grandma Jane made Easter cookies together - carrots, easter eggs, etc with M & M's on them - yum!
Emily looks a lot like her Grandma Jane!

They had a great time, and Emily said that we need to go again, but this time Mommy needs to go too!

I enjoyed my day to myself, I went to a Mom 2 Mom sale, Whole Food, Kohl's, and a few other stores, plus 3 loads of laundry and worked on my stuff for teaching at Adrian.  It was very productive day but I sure missed my little girl, this was the longest I had been away from her!

Flying a Kite & Sidewalk Chalk

Friday Emily and I had been talking about flying a kite, of course when we got to looking for our kite we couldn't find it from last summer!  So off to the dollar store and we bought a couple of new kites, they only had boy kites left, so we ended up with Batman, Spiderman and transformers, yippee!  Emily was hoping for a Carebear kite like last summer, but she wasn't disappointed when we came home with some new kites.  We also got some new sidewalk chalk, and Emily was so excited to play hopscotch like Max & Ruby!

Hopscotch

Emily also likes to have her dad or I trace her on the sidewalk.
Getting ready to fly the kite, it's already up!  We sure had a lot of wind on Friday!
She got it up there, and was really good at pulling and running to keep it up.
Hi mom!  Look at my kite!
It did end up in the tree, but dad to the rescue!

This isn't the perfect video of the kite flying, but you get the idea, and you can hear how much wind we had.

Warm Weather Fun

The weather was amazing last week in the 60's, of course now it's in the 40's and cold again.  What a tease, but I sure am glad spring is here and Easter is right around the corner!

Being a mom has many perks, but one of the things I love is Emily getting excited over the smallest things, a butterfly, a school bus and the phone ringing.

We went out side one afternoon this week and Emily saw a butterfly, she was so intriged and watched it for a long time.

Of course we had to swing and play on play ground set.  Now Emily can get on this swing by herself, either sitting or swinging on her stomach.
Emily always wants to play with Lucy, I thought this was cute with her standing by her.

Dancing Queen #2 & Prayer Videos

I had to share these videos of Emily dancing and saying her prayers last weekend.  Unfortunately with any of these videos it seems like I realize she is being really cute, but the time I get the camera, I have missed part of the fun.  Oh well, some is better than none.

Enjoy our little girl!

Dancing Queen

I forgot about these pictures of Emily dancing until over the weekend when she decided to go get her tutu on and do a second performance this past weekend.

Emily is getting pretty good at spinning around, high kicks and you name it just about everything.  Even Emily's music teacher said last week that she id really developing rhythmically.  I am so proud of her.  I love music, but I am not a natural singer, dancer or musician, I have to work at it!  But I love music and still make a joyful noise to the Lord (learned that from my mom).
