Mary's Smile is so Cute!

I don't remember when babies are suppose to start smiling, this week I told my mom Mary smiles at me.  At first I questioned it, but after a while you know she really is smiling at me.  Tonight she had big grins for her daddy when he was playing with her.  It was so cute!

Last night I ran a few errands and Jim gave Mary her first bottle!  He said she did great, and didn't even hesitate.  We will have to make sure we continue to give her a baby a couple of times a week, because she'll need to take one when I go back to teaching in the fall.  Emily did not take a bottle, but Mary is a lot different than Emily was, so I am sure she will take the bottle!

Emily Shucking Peas

After getting the diapers off the line this afternoon, Emily and I went and picked peas out of the garden.  We also cut some Kale too.  While I was working on the Kale Au Gratin Potato dish, Emily shucked all of the peas and then proceeded to eat all of them!  We didn't pick that many because they are just coming in, but boy are they tasty!  Emily spent a good 30 minutes shucking the peas, I hope she enjoys doing this all summer long!

Swimming at TP with Grandma

This morning we went over to Travis Pointe to swim with Grandma.  The weather wasn't as warm as we expected, but it was still really nice and the water did not feel cold to me.  When we got there at about 10:30 the pool was not too busy, but by the time we were leaving it was packed.

Mary was an angel and slept in the stroller, I sat on the edge of the pool and relaxed talking to my mom and Emily.  Emily loved the water but did not want to go under like she talked about on the way to the pool.  Maybe next time she will put her head under the water.

Here is Grandma swimming with Emily.

Visit with Nichole

Yesterday a old friend of mine came to meet Mary.  Nichole has three boys age 4 and under but she left that at home.  Emily was a little sad to not have the playmates, but Nichole and I got to have a nice relaxing chat and catch up.  Nichole also brought us dinner, which was so nice.  We've been so spoiled, tonight I need to make dinner and I don't know where to begin seeing we've had all of these great meals brought to us.  :)

Happy Father's Day

I have been very blessed with a wonderful husband and father, in fact my entire family is great.   Both are supportive and loving; you really can't ask for much more.  Today we enjoyed a nice lunch with my parents and grandma at Travis Pointe for father's day.

We laughed about the water fight dad had with Joshua and Caleb and how the waitress today thought Jim needed more ice than Diet Coke.

Mary slept the entire time which was a treat for me, here is a picture of her when I got home.

Pictures of Mary Emily Took

Emily likes to take pictures with our camera even though she has her own camera.  These are just two of the pictures Emily took of Mary this weekend.  I thought she did a pretty good job and these were worth sharing.

I was just thinking we don't take as many pictures of Mary as we did Emily, but maybe with Emily helping out we might have more pictures than we thought.

Emily Doctoring Mary

On Friday Emily pulled out her doctor bag and decided she needed to "doctor" Mary.  Mary was asleep, and I usually don't let Emily touch Mary when she is sleeping, but I agreed to let Emily "doctor" Mary if she was really gentle.

Here is Emily listening to her heart beat.

Emily checked her blood pressure
When she got out the shot she told Mary this is going to hurt and made a face
As you can see Mary was a very good patient.  I am not sure you see it very well in the pictures, but Emily put on the white doctor coat before she got  started.

The Finkbeiners visit Mary

My friend from High School Jen Finkbeiner came to visit today and meet Mary.  It's always a treat when she comes because she is a chiropractor and adjusts us, so I always feel better after she leaves.  Plus this time she brought us a meal and presents too!

Here is a picture of all of the kids together, Selma (2), Emily (3), Wil (almost 4), Bella (7) and Mary (4 weeks old today)
Mary was asleep when everyone got there, still in her PJ's
Then Mary woke up ...
The kids had fun drawing and having a snack

Sights & Sounds

Last night we went to Sights and Sounds in downtown Chelsea.  I carried Mary in the cloth carrier and she was an angel.  I was a little hot, and my back hurt by the end of the night but it was easier then having to weave a stroller through all of the people.

Emily had a blast listening to the music and running around with her friends.  I thought to myself we need to get a picture of Mary, but it never happened, but she was there too!  It's hard to take of picture of her when she is in a carrier sleeping.

Story time at the Library

Wednesday we went a La Leche meeting, and then to story time at the library.  We told the librarian how many books we had been reading and we have already finished the summer reading program, so Emily got to pick 4 prizes and got a new book.  For every 5 books you read you get a prize and after 20 books you get to choose a new book.

Here is Emily working on her father's day craft, a shirt, and tie with stickers and stuff on it.

Friends from my old job

On Monday my friends from my old job came to meet Mary.  The timing was perfect because we ended up having the chicken salad sandwiches, fruit and veggies left from the baptism.

My friends and I have been getting together for about 10 or 11 years and it's amazing, we started with no children and on Monday with just some of the kids there we had 10 children.

It's always nice to see old friends and catch up, and they brought Mary and Emily lots of nice presents.  They are such sweet friends.

Emily nursing her baby

Emily has been nursing her babies for about a year or year and a half, basically as long as I can remember her playing with her babies.  This is a recent picture of her nursing her baby this week.  I think it's so cute how she pretends to nurse and mommy her baby.

Playing Ball after the Baptism

After the baptism celebration the kids played ball outside with Jim, Dad and Steve.  They had a blast and Emily said that was the best part of the weekend.

Mary's Baptism

Last Sunday on June 13th we had Mary's baptism.  It was such a special day, we had her baptism at Peace Lutheran Church at 10am, and many family members and friends joined us for her special day.

This is Mary after we got her gown on before the church service started.

Mary's God Parents are my brother Dave as the God Father and my cousin Diane as the God Mother.

We were blessed with so many people coming to the baptism and to our house afterward for brunch.  The people that came were my sister Linda and her family, my brother Dave and his girlfriend Heather, my parents, Jim's mom Jane, my cousin Diane DeVoogd and her family, my cousin Janet Marion & her dad Uncle Marvin (for the church service), my cousin Amy Riley and her family, my God Parents Uncle Eldean & Aunt Carolyn Weidmayer, my Aunt Joyce Braun, my friend Angela Martin, our next door neighbors the Sullivans.  What a special celebration.

Family Time

Last weekend we had Mary's baptism and enjoyed some time with our family.  My brother Dave and his girlfriend Heather came for the weekend and Linda, Steve and the boys were in town too.

We had lots of fun just spending time together and enjoying each other company.

Mary Sleeping

While Emily and Jim were outside doing the racing game, Mary took a little nap.  I thought I would share some exciting video of her too.

Mary sleeping, not a care in the world.  The way she is sleeping reminds me of Emily.
Here is Emily kissing Mary good night.
