Helping Daddy

We are making a few changes to our house to prepare for baby number two which is supposed to arrive next May 2010!  So we are extending our loft area and moving our den/office out there and Emily will go into the bedroom which we have been using as our den.  Emily loves to help daddy and hands him tools and cheers him on.  The first time we got home to see the new floor/ceiling she said to Jim "It looks perfect!"  Her other favorite lines are "I'm so proud of you daddy," "It looks beautiful," "Good job dad," "You yell real loud when you need another one!"  The last one is when she is handing him tools and stuff.  Jim says she has to wear shoes to help him, so now whenever he goes to work on the project she runs and gets her shoes on and her "work hat" and then says "I want to help you daddy!"  She is a good little helper and listens well (most of the time).  I really need to get this on video!

Peeking in at the Steers

When we pull into my grandmother's house Emily always wants to go see the cows, actually they are steers, but she loves to see them.  We always go after a visit with my grandmother.  We actually went to visit my grandmother two weeks ago today, she had bladder surgery and we went to take her a couple of meals and check on her.  It's amazing, at almost 89 I couldn't even tell she had surgery.  Emily had a good time playing with the toys and talking with great grandma.  Grandma really appreciated the meals and every time I take her a meal or food she sends the Tupperware back with a thank you.  I have been saving them, and will add them to my scrapbook, she is so sweet.

After our visit with grandma here is a picture of Emily peeking in the barn window at the steers. I wish you could see the steers better because they came right up at the window and "mooed at Emily," which is of course the first thing she told Jim when we got home.

Library Fun

Emily just LOVES going to the library for storytime and then playing with their dollhouse, farm and toys afterward.  I actually can bribe her to be good with saying if she is good, then we can go to the library.  Plus when she wakes up in the morning I will ask, "where do you think we are going today?"  And Emily will say "The Library?"  Here she is playing with her friends Sofia & Natalia.

Great November Weather

The weather has been incrediable this November, most days in the 50's and some in the 60's.  Emily and I sure have enjoyed the warm weather.  I look forward to snow a little bit knowing Emily will just love playing in it this year, but I know we have several months of snow to come.  Here is a picture of Emily enjoying swinging "REAL high!"  Can you believe the bright sun too?

Quinn & Davis Myers

This week Emily and I went to visit my friend from high school Jennifer Myers.  They had a baby girl just over a month ago, and I truly forgot how little they are at first.  Emily looked huge compared to Quinn who is just over 9 pounds.  Emily was 9 pounds at birth, and I can't remember her being that little!  I wanted to get a picture of Emily with Davis and Quinn, but she wasn't in the picture mood, so here is a picture of me with Quinn and then big brother Davis, who wanted to use the camera.

We took a few presents, Davis just turned 2, and of course a meal, which was my favorite present when we had Emily.  So chicken casserole and rice crispy treats!

Happy 1st Birthday Megan!

Last Sunday Megan Cabble turned 1!  We had so much fun at her Birthday party.  Emily and Blake played so well together, and Megan was so adorable!  In fact Megan kept walking over to me and giving me hugs, it was so sweet.  We had a wonderful dinner with ham, cheesy potatoes, cinnamon bread, cake, ice cream and I am sure I am forgetting something.  Julie and Erik sent home leftovers which I polished off quickly!  I didn't realize this, but Emily loves ham, and we hadn't had it in a long time.  I am sure we will have more ham over the holidays.

Megan was so cute with her cake, she started to lick it and take little bites instead of just dipping her fingers in the frosting!  She didn't get to messy, and of course Emily and Blake loved the cake and ice cream too!

I had to share a few pictures of Blake and Emily playing peek-a-boo with Megan, which was so darn cute.  Megan did a great job opening her presents, with a little help from Blake and Emily.  I think Megan's favorite present might have been this glow worm, which I just loved too!

Surprise!

Last Saturday Linda, Steve, and Kari & Kevin (Steve's sister and brother-in-law) had a surprise 40th Anniversary party for Nancy and Keith Gifford.  Boy were they surprised when they walked in to about 30-40 friends and family.  It was at a hotel which made the surprise much easier.  Emily and I went with my parents and left Jim at home because he is working on some big changes at the house before the baby comes.  Emily liked playing with her cousins and sharing the news with the Gifford family.  Here is a picture of Emily with her Aunt Linda and then Emily playing with Joshua and Caleb.

We are having a baby!

You may have noticed that I having been posting as many pictures as I used to, and that we have been laying a little low.  We'll we are having a baby in May!  My actual due date in May 28th, but the baby will most likely come a week early via a c-section, so maybe around May 21st we will have baby Heiss #2.  Unless of course I go into labor early.  Seeing Emily will turn 3 on May 20th, they kids will be 3 years apart.  We are very excited about having another baby, the only unfortunate thing is I haven't been feeling well.  Pretty much all day morning sickness, headaches, and now heartburn, but it will all be worth it!  I am 13 weeks tomorrow November 20th, this picture is at 10 weeks when I saw my OB.

Great Grandma Weidmayer & Play group

We had another fun day today.  First we went to visit Great Grandma Weidmayer and take her some homemade Chicken & Rice Soup and fresh WARM Banana Bread out of the oven.  Grandma is always so happy to see Emily and it's nice to visit and catch up with grandma.  It must have been the day for soup because my cousin Amy dropped off bean soup for Grandma too, so she won't go hungry today!

After Great Grandma's we went to play group at Peace Lutheran Church and had a great time painting for the FIRST time!  I was truly amazed that Emily followed the instructions very well, which was to color one color per square with the paint.  At the end the kids weren't rotating the paint as much so Emily ended up with several squares of orange.  I thought for Emily not being 2.5 yet she did a good job trying to stay in the lines, the longer we did the painting, the more relaxed she got, at the beginning it was almost perfect.  It was cute, we were sitting next to Blake and he was having a grand time using the teal blue color, he thought Emily needed some blue on her picture she got a little dollop of Blake's teal blue that he was using.  They share so nicely.

Grandma's make great babysitters

Sunday Jim's mom and grandmother came to hang out with Emily when we went to a Piston's game with my family.  Emily had a blast with her grandma and great grandma doing puzzle's, playing on the swing set and going for a walk.

Jim and I have not left Emily with a babysitter yet, we have only left her with family or our friends' Julie and Erik.  It's something we need to do soon, I am sure she will be fine, we just been spoiled by parents being close and watching her and Jim's mom and grandma watching her too.  I goal is this winter to find a nice babysitter for Emily so have some options outside the family, who knows maybe Jim and I will actually go out for New Years Eve this year?

Trick or Treat

Halloween was chilly this year, so Emily had long johns on and was layered up under her Carebear costume.  I had to share this picture of the kids handing out candy and watching the trick or treaters out the window at Julie & Erik Cabble's house (Blake is the lion, Megan is in the orange and green, and Emily in the long johns).

We didn't go to very many houses on Halloween because it was so cold and the kids were  having almost as fun being inside watching the kids come up in their costumes.  We went to about 10 houses and I think Jim and I ate all of Emily's candy within a few days, minus the one dumb dumb sucker Emily had after Trick or Treating.  I am glad we didn't get a lot of candy and have a lot left in the house calling my name.  I was shocked that Emily has not asked for her Halloween candy once since we brought it home, I guess she forgot about it, which is fine with me.  Emily's thing these days is to ask for ice cream which she sometimes gets if she finishes her meal and eats all her veggies.

Carving the Pumpkin with Daddy

Emily wasn't so sure about getting her hands all slimy when she was cleaning out the pumpkin with daddy.  But after a while she got more into it and was excited when she pulled out a pumpkin seed or two.  She really didn't dig in like some kids do, she doesn't like to get messy or dirty.  She was excited with the finished product when we lit the pumpkin at our friends house.

Music Together with Daddy

On Halloween we went to a make-up Music Together class and Jim got to go too seeing it was on Saturday!  Emily was so excited that Daddy was going to her music class and she talked about it for days.  Emily is so cute at music together, she copies pretty much everything the instructor does and is great at playing the musical instruments, it is definitely the highlight of our week.  Emily sings the songs and dances around the room, I love going just to watch Emily get so excited and be so happy.

Halloween Fun

Here are some of the pictures leading up to Halloween.  The day before Halloween we went to the library in our orange festive pumpkin outfit from Grandma Jane and then we headed over to my grandma's house for lunch.  We had to put on our costume for Great Grandma, so she got to see both the orange outfit and the Carebear costume!  The last picture is of Emily trying on her costume a about a week before Halloween, I found this great costume for a steal at a Mom 2 Mom sale.  YEAH!
