Wolfgang's New Animal

Last night I made a better decision and waiting to take Emily and Lucy for a run at 7:30pm so it wasn't nearly as hot as earlier this week.  This time we ran down to Wolfgang's to check out their new Red Calf!  You can set Emily meeting their new pet, he is so nice and tame.  Of course Emily also enjoyed playing with the goats and looking at the BIG cows, lambs and pigs.

We stayed a little later than planned and when I turned the corner to run home I realized the sun was setting.  Just before we reached our road Jim came in the car looking for us.  He wanted to make sure we were alright.  What a nice husband and father.  Jim forgot I had my cell phone and he could call me on that, I think he just wanted to see what we were up to.  :)

Dexter Daze

Kids can spot candy like a mile away.  We sheltered Emily a little bit and she didn't have her first piece of candy or sucker until a couple of months ago.  Now she has had several suckers and spotted the suckers at the Kindermusik booth several feet away this morning.  I didn't even see the suckers at first.  So of course they gave the kids suckers.  Now it's candy in moderation, I still prefer real whole foods, and that is where the garden is good.

Today we went to Dexter Daze with our friends the Finkbeiners, Jenn, Wil (3) and Selma (17 months).  We had a great time, we always visit my favorite store first, Life is Good and then walk around and we grabbed lunch at the Bear Claw.  The day went well, and I was very proud of Emily waiting to go to the bathroom after she told me she had to go until we got to lunch (10 minutes).  I am so proud of her, she is doing really well with the potty training, I guess she is trained?

Popsicles with Friends

Monday we went to visit some friends I used to work with (Kelly, Heather & Danielle), I was so excited because some live over an hour away, so we only see each other a couple of times a year now.  But all of us work part-time and get to enjoy our kids.  I snapped a couple of pictures of the kids enjoying the popsicles right before we left.

Emily is with Julia Filias in the top picture, Julia is a couple of months younger than Emily.  The second picture is of Ian & Mason (Heather's boys) and Julia getting their popsicles from Kelly.  Next picture is Emily with Julia and Angelina (Danielle's girls), in their adorable matching shirts.  The bottom picture is Emily with Venna Kelly's daughter who 18 months old.  Missing from the pictures are Owen Kelly's son who is 3.

We decided we need to get together more often, maybe the orchard this fall.  We did that last fall and it was a big hit with the kids.

What Was I Thinking?

Monday around 4pm Emily wanted to go for a walk.  I decided why walk, I might as well try out my new running shoes from Sierra Trading Post and run!  So I loaded Emily in the jogging stroller and Lucy on the leash (after I cooled her off with the hose) and we were off.  We just ran down to the bridge (2-3 miles) and back so Lucy could take a dip, but with the humidity and the 90+ degrees, it was a hot one.  Plus they put new gravel on the road and in some places it was like pushing the stroller through sand up hill, UGH.  My new shoes were too bad, but I did come very close to a couple of new blisters.

Family Reunion & Penny Dig

Sunday was my mom's side of the family reunion.  It was a nice hot humid 93+ degrees and the heat index was over 100 with the humidity.  Most of the time we enjoyed being inside eating and participating in an auction, we were thankful to have an air conditioned room.

After the auction Emily enjoyed the penny dig, and surprisingly did quite well for a 2 year old.  She got a little bored, so she decided to cover herself up with the saw dust, UGH!  Emily also thought she would share the pennies and put a few in Claire's bag too.  What a sweetie!

Luke's Super Hero B-Day Party

Last Saturday we went to our friend Luke's 4th Birthday Party.  It was a super hero theme, which Emily enjoyed.  Emily liked hitting the superman punching bag with her friends Luke (left) and Owen (right) in the bottom picture.

Her favorite part of the party was probably the pinata and eating her first tootsie roll which she now asks for every day.

Emily loved the chocolate cake (1st time for chocolate) and ice cream, and sitting at the little table with her buddies Luke & Owen.  She also liked playing on the swing set and her first game of tag.

I enjoyed holding our friend Marci's new baby girl Natalie, she was such a doll.

Plus isn't the mask she made such a hoot, she wore it around the party for quite a while until I had her take it off because it was making a mark on her nose.

Grandma's Belated Birthday Dinner

Last night we celebrated my mom's Birthday, only a couple of weeks late, with both of my sisters in town, it was the prime time to celebrate.  Of course it was no surprise because one of the kids told her we were having cake for dessert.  It's hard to keep secrets when all of the kids are 7 and under.

The kids loved playing soccer, and baseball in our big backyard, and hardly wanted to take time out for dessert!  But they sure loved their cake and ice cream as you can see on their faces in the picture.

Great Grandma joined us for the Birthday dinner, we had pork loin, BBQ chicken, summer squash & zucs, green beans, potato salad and I think that is it.  Everything was made on the grill except the last 2 items and all side dishes were made with items from our garden.  Everyone loved the fresh veggies!
